Things are finally looking up for George Knight (Colin Salmon) in EastEnders.
It’s about time – he’s been through a lot!
The Queen Vic landlord has had a turbulent year, from learning that he was adopted as part of a baby farming agreement to discovering that his ‘dad’ Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) had murdered his birth father.
In a further twist, at the trial, ‘mum’ Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell) suffered a heart attack in the court, and later passed away in his arms.
Cruel Eddie then organised her funeral without George knowing.
Struggling to overcome his emotions, he turned to fighting in an underground boxing club – something which he was told could prove fatal after being diagnosed with a brain condition.
Earlier this week, after stepping into the ring again, he came face to face with his estranged son Junior (Micah Balfour).
In upcoming scenes, Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina (Francesca Henry) are keen to build bridges with him and make up for the lost years away from their half-brother.
Meanwhile, George feels pushed out when he sees his children bonding in The Vic, and is thrown when Junior’s wife Monique (Busayo Ige) and their son Xavier (Chase Dean-Williams) arrive – he has a secret family!
The Knight clan are overjoyed to welcome their extended family into the home, but it’s clear that tensions are still bubbling beneath the surface.
With the newbies contemplating setting up home in Walford, Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) offers them a place to stay at the pub, and after some persuasion from Gina, Junior agrees to stay.
