Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) was feeling all the emotions in Wednesday’s (July 17) episode of EastEnders as the aftermath of Jane’s (Laurie Brett) return continued.

At the start of this week, EastEnders fans up and down the country got the shock of their lives when Jane graced our screens once more. She was back in Ian’s life hoping to reconnect with son Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) ahead of his 21st birthday.

Coming face to face with his ex wasn’t a big deal for Ian, but seeing Jane after so many years was something Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) has struggled to deal with.

Yesterday (July 16), after a confrontation with Jane, Cindy demanded that Ian took her back home to Walford, but he refused.

Ian revealed that he would be staying with Jane to try and fix his family, insisting that she either deal with it or ‘find some other mug to drive round the bend’.

In tonight’s episode, both Ian and Cindy were wondering whether their relationship had come to an end. While Cindy opened up to Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Ian was thinking about this time two years ago, when Cindy contacted him out of the blue and revealed she had been living undercover following her arrest.

Suffice to say that while Jane once loved Ian and was happy with him, she recognised that he was meant to be with Cindy. She gently helped Ian realise that making up with Cindy now would be better, rather than losing her again after so many years.

Back in Walford, as Peter (Thomas Law) and Bobby headed off, Cindy approached Ian so they could talk. Fortunately, they found themselves back on the same page and agreed to start again. Unfortunately though, Ian then became far too honest for his own good and confessed he tried to kiss Jane that morning.

Cindy was disgusted, but perhaps she should spend a moment or two looking in the mirror before judging Ian?

Towards the end of the instalment, as Cindy and Ian hugged and reunited, she spotted Junior (Micah Balfour) over the road talking to Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa).

Earlier this year, Cindy got drunk after being rejected by George (Colin Salmon) and then slept with Junior. In the aftermath, she tried to say it wouldn’t happen again but it was obvious the spark between them hadn’t disappeared.

Glancing over at Lauren and Junior, Cindy seemed jealous and annoyed – what does this mean for her and Ian?

Will hypocrite Cindy actually remain loyal to Ian this time?

Let’s be honest…probably not.
