Dean Wicks’ (Matt Di Angelo) vile actions have affected even more Walford residents in recent EastEnders scenes, leading to an infuriating exit for beloved Jean Slater (Gillian Wright).

Jean recently uncovered Dean’s sick plot to keep ailing daughter Jade Masood (Elizabeth Green) close to him by tampering with her medication, though he soon found a way of twisting things to make himself the hero.

Viewers know that Dean was solely responsible for emptying Jade’s antibiotics in a bid to stop her being well enough to move to Pakistan with her mum.

However, when Jean confronted him over this, the gaslighting began.

He twisted things to make it look as though she was responsible, claiming that he had been fixing the wrong doses she had been giving Jade.

Though Jean protested her innocence, Dean used Lily Slater’s (Lillia Turner) previous hospitalisation against her as a way of making her think she had been careless around Jade’s medication.

Viewers may remember that Lily ended up in hospital after taking medication given to her by an ill Jean.

Jean was quick to point out that her mental health had not been in a good place when the incident with Lily happened, which led Dean to suggest that maybe she was ill again now.

Later, it became clear that what Dean had said was playing on her mind, when Jean asked Harvey Monroe (Ross Boatman) if he had noticed her acting strangely.

Though he assured her that she wasn’t acting strangely, he did suggest that she take some time to rest, as she had been focusing on looking after Jade for so long.

Unfortunately, Dean wasn’t finished with her yet, and later popped round to inform her that the journalist he had spoken to was looking to do a piece on Jade collapsing.

Poor Jean was horrified as Dean warned her that she may want to question her about the events that led to Jade’s hospitalisation, and that maybe it would be best if Jean went away for a while.

Still shaken up by the whole experience, Jean decided to visit Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier) and Little Mo, much to Dean’s relief.

With Jean off the scene, will Dean get away with his vile actions?
