I’m A Celebrity star Joe Swash has revealed he and wife Stacey Solomon have considered fostering, saying they would ‘love to.’

Speaking on the latest episode of the popular Netmums Podcast, the 41 spoke openly about their desire to ‘give something back.’

The couple married last year and already have 3 children – Harry, 15, Leighton, 14, and Zachary, 11 – from previous relationships and 3 children – Rex, 4, Rose, 1, and Belle, 4 months – together.

But despite already having a big family, Joe told Netmums that fostering is something that he and Stacey have talked about and would love to do, adding he and Stacey are ‘finished having babies.’

He said: ‘We’d love to foster, we’d love to give something back, you know?’

Joe Swash: Teens In Care follows Joe as he explores the untold stories of teens in care over the age of 16, who are the largest growing cohort in both child protection and care.

‘Me and Stacey have discussed it,’ Joe told Netmums.

‘We discussed it before this documentary and we discussed it while making this documentary. It is something that we definitely want to do, when our kids get old enough that they’re not as reliant on us.’

In fact, it sounds like the only thing that would hold them back is him and Stacey getting older and too tired to chase kids around! J

oe said: ‘Touch wood, we’re both healthy enough and fit enough.

‘We’ll have to wait until the time comes, but we’re open to the option.’

‘There are so many kids out there that really need that love and support’

Fostering is something that is close to Joe’s heart, with his own mum Kiffy being a foster carer for the last 15 years.

‘My mum sort of knew she had so much more to give and so much more love to give,’ Joe told us.

‘And there are so many kids out there that really need that love and support.

‘So we were really behind my mum. We are super proud of what she’s done and what she’s achieved.’

Joe’s documentary, which will be on BBC One and iPlayer on Tuesday 11th July at 9pm, sees him highlight the challenges that young people face as teens in care, after seeing the young people his mum fostered grow up and face similar issues.

‘There is nothing [much] there for these kids once they leave the foster system,’ he said.

‘I met 1 person in particular who is living on universal credit, he’s got no job, he hasn’t got friends or family around him. And now the only security he did have, he hasn’t got any more.

‘And it’s just heartbreaking to think that these kids had such a difficult start in life and now they’re going to have such a difficult start in the beginning of their adulthood as well.’
