This article contains spoilers from Tuesday’s (March 12) episode of EastEnders which has not yet aired on TV but is available to watch now on BBC iPlayer.

George Knight (Colin Salmon) made a shocking discovery in recent EastEnders scenes after agreeing to stand up in court during dad Eddie’s (Christopher Fairbank) murder trial.

Eddie had been charged with the racially motivated murder of a man who George later discovered was his biological father.

This encouraged George to search for the rest of his birth family, but he was left disappointed when his DNA test failed to find any matches.

George was later horrified when Eddie revealed that he had information on his birth mother but would only give it to him if he stood up in court as his character witness.

The pub landlord was torn over what to do, but eventually turned up to the court and took the stand.

However, the whole room was left stunned when George labelled his adopted father a racist instead of defending him.

As he stood on the stand, George noticed a woman sat in the corner, but she rushed out of the room before he got chance to speak to her.

Following the dramatic events in the courtroom, Eddie revealed to a horrified George that he didn’t have any information on his biological mum at all, and confessed that he had lied to get George on the stand, though that had clearly backfired.

When Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) arrived to check that George was okay, he told her about the woman he had spotted, and explained that he believed she was his birth mother.

Is he right?
