This article contains spoilers for Wednesday’s (19 June) episode of EastEnders, which is available now on BBC iPlayer.

EastEnders fans have seen Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) struggling to cope with being sexually assaulted by Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler) in recent weeks, but she made the brave decision to report his actions to the police in Wednesday’s episode.

Yolande was seen heading to the police station after she had to come face-to-face with her abuser at the baptism of Chelsea Fox’s (Zaraah Abrahams) son Jordan.

While Yolande has confided in husband Patrick (Rudolph Walker) about being sexually assaulted, the rest of her family have remained in the dark, so the couple were previously horrified to learn the Pastor would be conducting the service.

As the day of the baptism arrived, the Fox-Trueman clan gathered together to celebrate Jordan, but Denise (Diane Parrish) picked up on the atmosphere between Yolande and Pastor Clayton, asking her if something had happened between them.

As Yolande denied this, their conversation was interrupted by the Pastor, and when alone with Yolande, he warned her that he hopes didn’t ‘say something to Denise she’ll regret’.

Later, the family gathered to take a series of celebratory pictures, when the Pastor grabbed Yolande around the waist. Telling him to stop, she walked out of the room.

Seemingly inspired by an earlier conversation about bravery with Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris), who recently attended the funeral of her murdered brother Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), Yolande was seen approaching the front desk of the police station.

‘I need to speak to someone,’ she said. ‘I need to report a sexual assault – my sexual assault.’

Will Pastor Clayton finally face justice for his despicable crimes?
