George Knight (Colin Salmon) is to get a huge surprise in EastEnders when he finds out he has a daughter-in-law and a grandson.

The Queen Vic landlord has been struggling with his mental health in recent months, after learning that his adoptive further Eddie (Christopher Fairbank) murdered his birth father, and then his adoptive mum Gloria (Elizabeth Counsell) passed away.

He also learnt that his Jamaican heritage was a lie – he was actually Ghanian.

In response, he turned to fighting in an underground boxing club – something which he was told could prove fatal after being diagnosed with a brain condition.

Unable to combat his emotions, he stepped into the ‘ring’ again earlier this week, and came face to face with his opponent – his estranged son Junior (Micah Balfour).

In upcoming scenes, his daughters Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina (Francesca Henry) are keen to build bridges with him and make up for the lost years away from their half-brother.

He agrees to meet up with them, and as they get to know one another in The Vic, George watches on and feels pushed out.

However, things come more uncomfortable when Junior’s wife Monique (Busayo Ige) and their son Xavier (Chase Dean-Williams) arrive, and he announces his secret family.

The Knight clan are overjoyed to welcome their extended family into the home, but it’s clear that tensions are still bubbling beneath the surface when father and son clash.

Elaine (Harriet Thorpe) has a conversation with Monique and offers them a place to stay at the pub, and after some persuasion from Gina, Junior agrees to stick around too.

Later, having found out about the new living situation, George gets to know his grandson, and is touched when Monique opens up about her Ghanian heritage and offers to help him connect to his culture.

Will she prove to be the much needed light at the end of the tunnel he’s craved for so long?
