EastEnders has brought back a number of characters in recent months, and the latest icon set to return to our screens is none other than Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer).
In upcoming scenes, Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) and Zack Hudson (James Farrar) visit Bianca in Milton Keynes, following her break up from long-term partner Terry.
While viewers are ecstatic to have Bianca back, no one has been more excited than actress Shona McGarty, who has revealed that she screamed when she found out that Patsy Palmer was returning.
‘Patsy texted me and said “Guess who’s coming back” and I screamed and I said to my mum, “oh my god, oh my god, I think Patsy’s coming back to EastEnders”,’ Shona explained.
‘We were both really excited and couldn’t wait to start.’
Shona and Patsy first started working together when Bianca returned to Albert Square in 2008, bringing her kids with her.
Since then, Whitney has remained a permanent fixture in Walford, even after Bianca’s exit in 2014.
The pair worked together briefly again in 2019 when Bianca returned for Whitney’s ill-fated wedding to Callum Highway (Tony Clay), and Shona revealed that Patsy hasn’t changed at all since they last worked together.
‘It’s like I’ve gone back in time. I feel sixteen again. It’s been really nice working with Patsy, she hasn’t changed a bit! She’s got that LA, Malibu glow about her and she’s brought that to EastEnders.
‘Those episodes are going to give the audience a reminder of Whitney and Bianca’s relationship.’
Whitney’s trip to visit Bianca isn’t drama free in any sense, as Whitney forms a bond with local girl Britney, who’s mum, Keeley struggles with drug addiction.
As Whitney takes Britney under her wing, she is horrified to learn that she hasn’t been attending school, and soon confronts Keeley.
As things get out of hand, Britney makes a run for it, and unknowingly steps out in front of a speeding car.
Horrified, Whitney pushes her out of the way and ends up being hit, leaving her family horrified.
Thankfully, both Whitney and her unborn baby are fine, but things take another turn when Keeley is arrested for drug dealing, and Zack and Whitney fight over what to do about Britney.
