Former EastEnders Star Hints at the Return of an Iconic Character: “Never Say Never!”
Fans of EastEnders are buzzing with excitement over the recent return of several iconic characters. Most notably, Chrissie Watts has already made her comeback, and David Wicks is expected to return later this year. It’s all part of the build-up to the show’s monumental 40th anniversary in February 2025, where a special live episode—featuring a romantic twist—will allow viewers to influence the storyline.
With anticipation running high, fans have been speculating about which other beloved characters might make a return to Albert Square. One name that consistently comes up is Tanya Cross Branning.
Tanya first arrived on Albert Square in 2006, along with her family—Max, Lauren, and Abby. The Brannings quickly became fan favorites and were at the heart of some of EastEnders’ most memorable storylines, including Max’s affair with Stacey, which led to the explosive Christmas Day reveal.
During a recent appearance on The One Show, Tanya’s actress, Jo Joyner, was asked by hosts Alex Jones and Anita Rani if she would ever consider returning to the BBC soap.
“Not at the moment,” Joyner confessed, “but never say never.”
She added, “It was a great time… but I do still have family there. Is there someone to return to?”
Fans know that Lauren, Tanya’s daughter, is currently back on the Square, which seems like a perfect reason for Tanya to make her way home. But will she? Only time will tell!
