Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) has told mum Denise (Diane Parish) that she was responsible for the crowd crush at Peggy’s in EastEnders.

Last week, Chelsea increased the amount of tickets for an event Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) was holding. It was done out of revenge after Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) sacked Chelsea and allowed Penny to have her job.

Chelsea hoped that her plan would leave Penny in a chaotic and stressful situation – but she certainly didn’t expect lives to be put in danger as a result.

As more and more people filed into the bar, people inside realised they had become trapped. With exits blocked, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) managed to work out the only free way out was via an office door that was locked.

The door was shut thanks to Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) and Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) being inside and continuing their affair. Just as the door opened, Lauren fell to the floor and was trampled on due to the amount of people rushing outside.

Another person who ended up in hospital was Penny’s sister Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd). Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) told her yesterday that the injuries sustained on her pelvis means she needs to be in a wheelchair for her recovery.

Because Chelsea has kept quiet about her involvement, Jack has assumed Penny is to blame for putting his other daughter in hospital. While Jack has failed to pick up on Chelsea’s concerning behaviour, Denise hasn’t and tonight, she confronted her about it.

Chelsea ended up confessing to everything. She told her mum that she just wanted Penny’s night to be very busy and would never deliberately plot for people to be rushed to hospital.

Also occurring this week is Dean Wicks’ (Matt Di Angelo) trial. As Chelsea spoke, Denise started to recognise the similarities between her daughter’s situation, and the aftermath of Keanu’s murder last Christmas.

Chelsea asked Denise for her thoughts. She told her daughter that she doesn’t hate her – she just feels scared for her.

If Chelsea keeps her involvement in the crush a secret, the guilt will eat away at her but if she confesses, she’s at risk of facing police consequences.

Which path will she choose?
