EastEnders star Michelle Collins spoke out about a charity close to her heart in an inspiring post online.

The actress, who is best known for playing Cindy Beale on the soap, has previously admitted she would starve herself for weeks on end as she tried to make a name for herself in acting circles, bingeing, vomiting and downing laxatives until her weight plummeted to just over five stone.

It was only when her agent pulled her up on her emancipated frame, the former EastEnders favourite accepted she had a problem.

In her latest post on Twitter/X, she penned: ‘I am a patron of an eating disorders charity called @pedsfriends it is amazing it’s in Peterborough but they take people on from outside the area please take a look if you are suffering was just listening to @mrjamesob as an ex Ed sufferer I manage it nowthere is hope .

Michelle’s character Cindy was last seen in Albert Square when she was arrested for hiring a hitman against Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), before being sent down for the crime.

It was then announced that Cindy had died in childbirth off-screen while delivering Cindy Jr.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her ITV show today, 61, Michelle revealed that she never thought she would go back, and that that chapter was over.

She went on to admit that she was okay with that as she had moved onto other projects, before admitting that she actually hadn’t even been told that the character was dead!

‘She died off screen, so I was okay because I was sunning myself filming Sunburn, and I think it was Barbara Windsor who told me she’d been to the funeral. And I was like, “Cindy’s funeral? I didn’t even know she’d died!”‘

‘You’d have thought they’d have told me!’ She added, with a laugh.
