1. Huge return rocks family

Sparks are flying this week between George Knight and his ex-wife Cindy Beale, whom he once knew as Rose.

In recent scenes of the BBC One soap, the former boxer portrayed by Colin Salmon found out that his adoptive father, Eddie, had murdered his biological father Henry in a racially motivated crime.

The revelation was made in the Queen Vic, as his mother Gloria Knight explained her husband had acted out of love for her due to Henry wanting to take a 15-year-old George back to his biological family – and she refused to comply.

This week, George is unable to move past his big family secret, particularly as he remembered witnessing the death of Henry.

But as he fails to cope, George decides against asking his fiancée Elaine Peacock for support as he, instead, opts to reach out to Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) and more cracks appear in his relationship with the Vic landlady.

Coming up, George is finding it hard to cope with the fall out of his conversation with his adoptive mother Gloria.

Sadly, he isn’t comfortable sharing his pain with Elaine.

Later, he leaves Cindy a voicemail to say he wishes she were there.

In other scenes, Ian’s perturbed to hear Cindy has cut her trip short and come home, especially as she hasn’t been to see him.

It’s soon revealed that Cindy is with George, who needs to talk through his anguish over Gloria and Eddie’s court case.

Cindy reminds George she’ll always be there for him when he needs her – could they be gearing up to give their romance another chance?

While this remains to be seen, fans of the London-based program are convinced that Cindy’s return could set the scene for another comeback to take place.

Since she returned from the dead, Cindy Beale was able to reconnect with a plethora of characters – but one has been kept in the dark about her situation.

Cindy Williams Jr., whom the blonde bombshell gave birth to while she was in prison before being enrolled in the witness protection scheme, has no clue her mother never really died behind bars.

The estranged daughter of Cindy Beale was last seen in 2015, when she left Walford to go to Germany with her then-boyfriend Liam Butcher.

As of 2023, Cindy was said to have gone through a tough separation with Liam and she left Dusseldorf to travel.

Cindy Beale, as mentioned above, recently left the Square to go on a trip and attempt to reconnect with her estranged daughter.

By coming back to Walford to comfort George, could Cindy be inviting her to return to the Square?

How would Cindy Jr. react when faced with a new and improved Bobby Beale?

2. Affair exposed

Meanwhile, the Five continue to struggle with their own murderous secret, mere weeks after the shock death of Keanu Taylor.

Just as they are trying to keep it all under wraps, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) came up with the idea of bedding ANOTHER Branning man, Jack (Scott Maslen).

The newest addition to her collection is not only a copper but he’s also married to Denise Fox (Diane Parish), another member of the Five.

This week, the hairstylist’s mental health deteriorates further, while an oblivious Jack and Stacey continue their steamy affair.

Denise hallucinates Keanu Taylor, believing that what she is seeing is real and her stepdaughter Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) goes above and beyond to help her.

Alerted by the teen in previous scenes, Stacey goes to see Denise to voice the teen’s concerns, but Denise tries to brush it off.

However, when Denise finally begins to talk about what she’s seeing and hearing, Stacey recognises the signs and reaches the conclusion that Denise is experiencing psychosis.

Terrified this could mean Denise blabs, she urges her to see a doctor.

Later on, Ricky Branning (Frankie Day) is convinced Denise is having a breakdown when he overhears her saying strange things, but Amy insists she just needs to sleep.

Denise then rushes out of the back door and hides in a bush, terrified by her own thoughts.

Stacey gets Denise inside, where Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) and Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler) arrive to give her counsel.

In other scenes, Stacey insists to the other members of the remaining Five that Denise needs to see a psychiatrist.

Sadly, Denise has gone to see the only person she believes can help her now – her former husband and serial killer Lucas Johnson.

But much like everybody else, Lucas is very worried by Denise’s behaviour and the things she is saying.

Later, Denise arrives home in an agitated state and frightens the life out of Amy and Ricky.

She explains she must get far away to keep them safe and grabs the car keys.

Amy convinces Denise to let her go too, and they drive off while Ricky desperately tries to reach his father Jack.

Elsewhere, Stacey confides in Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) that she’s been seeing Jack and he now believes his marriage is over.

Suki insists she must convince him to stay with his wife and end things for all their sakes as the end of her fragile marriage could push Denise over the edge.

Will Stacey really put an end to her affair with Jack?

While this remains to be seen, Denise spirals completely out of control as she takes the wheel with a concerned Amy.

Denise drives at high speed through a wooded area before leaving the car and Amy alone.

Soon enough, word about Denise’s disappearance reaches the Vic punters and a search party is organised.

However, many viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter, following last week’s trips to Albert Square.

According to them, Stacey may not have any option than to end her affair with Jack as Amy Mitchell could have put two and two together.

“I hope Amy exposes Jack and Stacey like Lauren did”, one viewer notably commented on X.

Last week, the teen spotted her father Jack browsing the local market ahead of Valentine’s Day.

She eventually convinced him to buy a bracelet for Denise as she tried to play matchmaker and Jack obliged – while his eyes were turned towards Stacey and her bap van.

Later on, Jack approached Stacey with a secret Valentine’s Day gift and Amy saw them together from afar.

Could she be the one to shine a light on Stacey and Jack’s behaviour?

3. New affair in the works

Linda Carter was recently shocked when her son Johnny came back to the Square after six years away.

The returnee portrayed by Charlie Suff received a call from his nan Elaine who was preoccupied for Linda and knew she needed help.

Johnny thus returned with an agenda – protect Linda at all costs, particularly from her rapist Dean Wicks.

But after brutally punching him, Johnny was reunited with Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and viewers have decided that he may have an ulterior motive.

This could even involve Callum Highway (Tony Clay), Ben’s husband.

“Food for thought. Ben is leaving. Johnny returns. Callum and Johnny get together”, one soap watcher speculated.

“You know I do think Johnny has a ulterior motive But I’m starting to like him”, another seemed to agree.

Johnny has been seen flirting away with Ben in recent trips to Walford – but could he turn his attention tot he hunky copper?

EastEnders airs from Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
