EASTENDERS fans have demanded a character ‘with no ties to Walford’ is axed from the soap.
The BBC show is set in a fictional East London borough and revolves around a number of families and their nearest and dearest.
However, in December last year, one family left Albert Square for a new life.
Karen Taylor fled to Spain with her partner Mitch and younger children, while older kids Keanu and Bernie stayed behind.
As EastEnders viewers know, Keanu was then killed on Christmas Day by Linda Carter in the Queen Vic after he attacked fiancee Sharon Watts.
The best friends, along with four other women – making ‘The Six’ – then covered up the death by burying his body under the floor of the burnt out cafe.
It means Bernie is now the only member of her family left on the Square, and some fans feel she’s become a spare part.
Taking to a Reddit forum, one EastEnders fan wrote: “I just don’t get why she’s there? She doesn’t have any ties (apart from Felix, who is a ghost at this point). When do you think she will be off our screens?”
Another added: “Shes only there to mention Keanu and for her reaction when Keanu’s body is eventually dug up.
“Once that storyline is done, she will probably exit to Spain with Karen as Karen will come back to Watford for Keanu’s funeral.”
A fellow viewer commented: “I’d rather they just give her more to do? Like she’s a really good actress and it’s a shame she isn’t getting better storylines.
“Also I don’t like that they’ve given her this “hopelessly single” trope just cause she’s big. Just give her a girlfriend, easy drama.”
