Pastor Clayton (Howard Saddler) looks set to get his comeuppance in upcoming EastEnders scenes as Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) bravely addresses her sexual assault with Patrick (Rudolph Walker).

The heartbreaking revelation will play out during an emotional two-hander episode next week.

Viewers of the BBC One soap watched in horror earlier this month as Yolande confessed the Pastor’s sickening actions to close friend Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe).

We also saw a series of flashbacks showing a number of Clayton’s victims speaking of similar incidents, that spanned 23 years.

Unfortunately, on each occasion, either church officials or the police were unable to investigate further.

Such negligence has allowed him to commit further offences, including on Yolande when he cornered her in a store room at the community centre.

Since then she’s struggled to come clean to partner Patrick, who she was previously married to, and has found his loving advances to be triggering.

Things go from bad to worse this week when she’s too focussed on praying and doesn’t realise the kitchen is ablaze.

In upcoming scenes, Patrick will learn about Yolande’s ordeal and the two-hander will explore his reaction and the immediate aftermath that follows.

Finally breaking her silence to her life partner, the episode will end weeks of confusion surrounding her well-being.

However, it will also spark a difficult journey ahead as the couple try and process what has happened, and we’ll see Patrick plan his next move in a bid to support her.

Chris Crenshaw, executive producer of EastEnders said: ‘When you have a story that deserves time and space to explore, and you have talent like Angela Wynter and Rudoph Walker, it felt only right to produce an EastEnders two-hander episode.

‘This conversation is the most difficult that Yolande and Patrick will ever have, and an episode dedicated to them gives us a chance to tell this story truthfully and authentically.

‘I’m in awe of the performances Angela and Rudolph have given and they’ve handled such a challenging and sensitive subject matter.’

The episode will air on Tuesday 7th May.
